County schools resume Tuesday
PITTSBORO -- More than 7,700 students and 1,200 employees in Chatham County Schools will usher in a new school year when classes resume on Tuesday.

Stolen truck recovered
PITTSBORO -- Chatham County Sheriff's Office deputies recovered a red Ford Ranger pickup truck valued at $7,000 after the driver was stopped by a member of the Pittsboro Police Department on Sunday morning. Deputies had notified surrounding jurisdictions after the victim, David Lipofski of Pittsboro, reported it stolen late Saturday evening.

Three charged in marijuana sweep
PITTSBORO -- Three people arrested by Chatham County Sheriff's Office during a special marijuana eradication operation in the southwestern part of the county will face court action next month, authorities announced on Thursday.
